June 8, 2026

Online

Sebastian Losacker, Nicolas Befort and Terese E. Venus are joint guest editors of a Call for Papers in the journal Ecological Economics entitled „The bioeconomy: a post-fossil economy in the making?“.

The call aims to advance a renewed research agenda on the bioeconomy that examines how it emerges in practice, for example through new institutions, regional strategies, innovation trajectories, financial realignments and value-chain restructuring. It also focuses on questions of how progress towards a bioeconomy can be measured and assessed, regional differences in its manifestation, global power and justice relations and sustainable innovation strategies.

The submission deadline is 31 December 2026. Manuscripts must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system and will undergo the standard peer-review process. Publication of accepted papers is planned from November 2027 onwards.

More detailed information is available in the Call for Papers.
