April 14, 2026
Giessen, Germany
We are pleased to announce that Lennart Fischer successfully defended his dissertation on April 14, titled “How to build (in) a sustainable future? A multi-scalar perspective on the socio-technical transition toward a bio-based construction sector.” The cumulative thesis comprises four academic articles, two of which have already been published.
As part of his dissertation and his work in the TRABBI project, Lennart Fischer conducted qualitative interviews with stakeholders in the construction sector in India. He analyzed these alongside additional interviews from a multi-scalar perspective.
With his research, he makes an important contribution to sustainability transitions research from an economic geography and future-oriented perspective. In doing so, he developed conceptual approaches based on the socio-technical transition toward a bio-based construction sector. Project leader Sebastian Losacker served as his primary supervisor and was a member of the examination committee.
We warmly congratulate Lennart on earning his doctorate. We sincerely thank him for the wonderful time together and the enriching collaboration within the TRABBI project, and we wish him all the best for his future path. He will continue to conduct research on sustainability transitions and will work as a postdoctoral researcher at Leibniz University Hannover at the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography (IWKG). We look forward to continuing our collaboration.
