Shortlist for the best research environment 2026

The TRABBI research project has been selected for the shortlist of the Best Research Environment 2026 award. The prize is awarded by the Junge Akademie and the Volkswagen Foundation and recognizes research environments that provide outstanding conditions for scientific work.

From all submitted applications, a jury selected 15 research environments for the shortlist. Five of these teams will later be chosen by lottery to receive €10,000 each, which can be used for team-building activities, retreats, coaching, or professional development. The lottery process emphasizes that inclusion on the shortlist is already a significant distinction and that the shortlisted research environments are not ranked against one another.

TRABBI’s nomination acknowledges its commitment to fostering an open, supportive, and productive research culture. The award ceremony will take place on 27 June 2026 in Berlin.
