Status meeting "Bioeconomy as societal change" 2025

November 26, 2025

Giessen, Germany

On 26 November, the annual status meeting of the junior research groups funded under the programme “Bioeconomy as Societal Change” of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) took place.

Since 2014, this funding initiative has supported interdisciplinary research on the social, economic, technological and ecological dynamics of a sustainable, bio-based economy. Its aim is to scientifically analyse, better understand and actively shape the complex transformation processes of the bioeconomy. The “TRABBI” has also been part of the funding programme since 2023 and hosted this year's meeting at Justus Liebig University in Giessen.

The four funded junior research groups BioPolista,” “MeatTheBioeconomy,” “ReValueD and TRABBIpresented the current progress of their research and discussed their findings together with representatives of the Projektträger Jülich (PtJ). The meeting focused on the achievements of the past year, new empirical insights and professional exchange on scientific and societal challenges related to the bioeconomy.
