Winter School Bioeconomy

January 14-17, 2026

Kassel, Germany

From 14 to 17 January, the Winter School Bioeconomy took place at the University of Kassel under the motto ‘Shaping structural change in Hesse together’. The event aimed to develop new socio-ecological perspectives for the future of North Hesse by closely interlinking theory and practice.

The Winter School was organised by the SDG+ Lab, the University of Kassel's laboratory for sustainability issues, in cooperation with Konzeptwerk Neue Ökonomie from Leipzig.

The programme focused on key challenges related to structural change, regional development, circular economy approaches and value creation. Particular attention was given to the innovative transformation of work and the economic systems in the fields of construction and interior design, food systems, tourism and textiles.

The diverse programme included expert presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops, exchange formats and an excursion. On Friday, Dr Sebastian Losacker actively contributed to the programme. He participated in the panel discussion ‘Transformation steps for North Hesse’ and organised a workshop on ‘Transformation towards a bioeconomy’.
