Socio-technical transformation processes for a sustainable construction sector in the bioeconomy:
Regional lead markets and global innovation systems
TRABBI is a five-year research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the ‘Bioeconomy as societal change’ funding programme. The research project deals with the question of how far-reaching social transformation processes towards a bioeconomy can be organised and how this change takes shape in different regions.
The focus is on transformation processes in the construction sector, where far-reaching socio-technical changes are necessary in order to achieve the global sustainability goals. To this end, innovation systems, socio-technical regimes and lead market structures are analysed at global, national and regional level. The empirical analysis focusses on four countries: Germany, Italy, China and India.
Project background
Bioeconomy
The bioeconomy is an important instrument for a sustainable and resource-preserving economic system and combines ecological, social and economic sustainability. TRABBI is exploring how socio-technical transformation processes promote this change.
