Dr. Sebastian Losacker and Dr. Lennart Fischer participated in the third workshop of the RSA Research Network on Transformative Knowledge Regions (TRAKR), titled “The Policy Dimensions of Transformative Knowledge Regions”, in Neuchâtel.

We are pleased to announce that Lennart Fischer successfully defended his dissertation on April 14, titled “How to build (in) a sustainable future? A multi-scalar perspective on the socio-technical transition toward a bio-based construction sector.”

Moritz Schütz and Dr. Sebastian Losacker, together with Prof. Dr. Stefan Hennemann, have published their new research article, “What do regional governments write about climate change on their websites? A natural language processing study of German regions,” in the journal Global Challenges & Regional Science.

Linda Lütkes took part in the 11th Annual NEST Conference, which was held on 28–29 March 2026 at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Under the theme “Interlinked Transitions: From Global Visions to Local Realities,” the conference explored how sustainability transitions are shaped by the interplay between global frameworks and local contexts.

As part of a two-week research stay in China, Tim Becker and Sebastian Losacker examined current developments in the bamboo industry in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian.

As part of a four-week research stay in India, Linda Lütkes, Lennart Fischer, and Sebastian Losacker explored current developments in sustainable construction and urban development. Their insights range from bamboo-based approaches in Kerala to the regional challenges and innovation-driven solutions for the construction sector in Bangalore.

Dr. Sebastian Losacker gave a presentation at the University of Manchester on “Cap-and-trade policies and regional environmental innovation: Evidence from the EU Emissions Trading System.”

Lukas Kriesch and Sebastian Losacker have published their new article “Tracking the public perception of heat pumps: A sentiment analysis of German news articles” in the journal Energy and Buildings.

Tim Becker and Sebastian Losacker, together with Sandro Montresor, have published their new article, "Cap-and-trade policies and regional environmental innovation: evidence from the EU Emissions Trading System" in the Journal of Economic Geography.

The 8th Geography of Innovation Conference took place from 28–30 January 2026 at Corvinus University of Budapest. The TRABBI junior research group participated in the conference and contributed to the program with several presentations.
